Iberian Mask Festival 2013 (4 of 4)

These drum players from Galicia, Spain, have performed for several hours non-stop. Definitely some of the best I have ever heard. The guys in the middle make amazing sounds using the metal part of a hoe. Fantastic!

Iberian Mask Festival 2013 (1 of 4)

Spain and Portugal's very old traditions on the streets of downtown Lisbon

It was such a great party! The variety of masks and outfits was amazing (I took 324 shots!). This series will be just a very small sample, of course. :-)

Daniel Rodrigues, Portugal
1st Prize Daily Single Life

Youths play football on a field that was once part of a military barracks on the village of Dulombi, Galomaro, Guinea-Bissau. Before Guinea-Bissau gained its independence in 1974, the barracks housed members of the Portuguese military. Football is the most popular amateur sport in the world, and some of Africa's stars began their careers in just such informal settings.

I just had to take a shot at this photograph. Daniel was an unemployed photographer who had to sell all his equipement in order to survive. 17,7% of the Portuguese must have similar stories nowadays as the unemployment rate was never as high in the history of this country. After winning this prize, Canon decided to sponsor him and Daniel is now working again.

World Press Photo 2012 (2 of 4)

A portrait of our world.
These are detail shots I took of some of the photos that most impressed me.
All images were captured in the Middle East (I decided not no post the most shocking ones).

Pigeons Love This House

Apparently uninhabited house at Cascais. Hope it might just be a summer house and not another example of abandonment by new poor owners.
