To the people of Madeira
The portuguese Island of Madeira has been hit by the biggest storm ever: 42 people reported dead so far and many still missing. The island is in a total chaos, roads have just vanished and some bridges too but, as weather conditions are better now, help has started arriving by air.

CDP Blogger's new arrest
Iranian security forces arrested Amir Sadeghi at the office of Farhang-e-Ashti newspaper for having published images of the violent security clampdown on protesters on Ashura (December 27, 2009) on his personal blog (tehranlive.org) and on the website Tehran24.
His War in Tehran streets on Ashura day photos have been deleted and the following message is what you see on the post instead:
''Looks like you have a problem here sir/madam. You sure you have the right place? Maybe you got a little lost? Maybe you're looking for something you're not supposed to find? Either way, just go search for it, it can't hurt.''

His Facebook profile page has also been deleted but his friend created a group on Facebook, so please join and show your support: Free Amir Sadeghi
Thank you
P.S. Gladly, a friend has previously saved the photos, so you can check them on the group page.

Forno da Cal
A lime kiln (forno da cal) is used to produce quicklime by the calcination of limestone (calcium carbonate). There were five of these, dating back to the 16th century, at the historical centre of Paço de Arcos; they have worked for two centuries mainly for the construction of all forts and fortresses on this coast.
