Click here to view thumbnails for all participantsOur fellow CDP blogger 'A' is missing in Tehran. He has done a remarkable job covering the protests on the streets of his city. The iranian authorities have blocked his blog, Tehran24, on the 17th.
I totally support 'A' and the people of Iran fighting for self-determination!
Using the only name I'm aware of, this is also a humble tribute to all those who have lost their lives.

Lisbon Cathedral (II)
One of Lisbon's problems when it comes to restoring old constructions or building new ones at downown is the fact that history is, literally, by levels...
This is a cloister patio added to the Cathedral in the 14th century, built over a recently discovered roman village.
Keep in mind Lisbon was destroyed by a big earthquake in 1755, which makes every work even harder. You never know what you will find when you start digging!... :-)

Lisbon Cathedral
Lisbon Cathedral dates back to the 12th century (romanic style) and was built by order of Afonso Henriques, first king of Portugal, after having conquered the town to the Moors in 1147.
The gothic and barroque styles result of enlargements made in the 14th and 17th centuries. It is one of the buildings that survived the big earthquake that destroyed the city in 1755.

Santo António's Day
Oeiras Summer Fair
Saint Anthony of Lisbon is the matchmaker. Boys are supposed to offer their girlfriends potted 'manjericos' (basil 'greek'/ocimum basilicum minimum) decorated with paper carnations and small flags with popular quotes. On the night of the 12th street parties take place at the most typical neighbourhoods in the Lisbon area until Dawn.

Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (II)
Jeronimus Monastery is such a huge building that it's hard to get a proper photo of the whole thing, so here are some details (click to enlarge). Another couple of shots and information on this post.
